At the February Club meeting last week, Eagle Scout Jonathan List spoke to the club and presented a slide show from his trip to Valley Forge PA last October. The Chesterfield Club sponsored Jonathan and his Dad to participate in the Medal of Honor Program at Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge. This program offers scouts the opportunity to spend a weekend at Freedoms Foundation to learn more about the Medal of Honor program and some of the recipients of the Medal of Honor. Even though they have to spend some of their time cleaning and repairing areas of the grounds there, they are exposed to a valuable learning experience and come away with a sense of pride in the Medal of Honor program. |
70TH ANNIVERSARY

March 2010 marks the 70th anniverary of service to their community by the Chesterfield Ruritan Club.
The club was charted on March 21, 1940 with 32 members. The first club president was W.A. Horner, a businessman and farmer.
The Chesterfield Club was sponsored by the Powhatan Club. In 2010, there are 21 Members, 6 Associate Members, and 1 Honorary Member in the club.
The Chesterfield Club was the "mother club" in Chesterfield County. Today there are 6 adult clubs and 2 Ruri-teen Clubs working in Chesterfield County to share Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.

At the recent National Conventon in Virginia Beach, National President Jerome Rodes assiged National Director (and Chesterfield Club Member)Bobby Burton to serve as the 2010 National Director to the Appomattox District.

We will be making our famous Chesterfield Ruritan Brunswick Stew at our Clubhouse at 6515 Bryce's Lane, Richmond, on March 13, 2010 starting at 6:00 am. It will be ready for sale to the public at 12 noon. The cost is $6.00 per container and it is wonderful especially during this time of the year!!
