About the Chesterfield Ruritan Club
Members of the club volunteer or are assigned to various community service or operating committees. Through those committees, the Chesterfield Ruritan Club has accomplished many things for the community and its citizens. Some those annual accomplishments include:
Scholarships to high school seniors and college students.
Recognition of outstanding students in local elementary and middle schools.
Sponsoring a county youth to the Ruritan National Youth Leadership Conference.
Sponsoring students to the American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State.
Sponsoring two scouts and a leader to attend the Medal of Honor Adventure at Freedoms Foundation, Valley Forge, PA.
Donating Rudy Bear to the police and fire departments and rescue squads to use for young children during emergencies.
Contributions to the Ruritan National Foundation to be used for college loans or grants to deserving students nationally.
Donations to rescue squads.
Contributions of time and money to charitable and special service organizations such as Special Olympics, Christmas Mother program, Salvation Army, Meals-on-Wheels and others.
The members donate their time working with groups and raising money for scholarships and charities through ticket sales and gate security for the Chesterfield County Fair, making and selling Brunswick stew and barbeque and sales of Christmas trees.
